Understanding the Power of Color: Your Personal Palette Revealed

Have you ever noticed that certain colors on you can completely transform your appearance? Whether you realize it or not, the hues you choose to wear can make you look alive or wrongfully sick. Let's roleplay for a second... you walk into a room, and your eyes are drawn not to the person wearing the outfit, but the color itself, and then your brain makes a snap decision...you either love it or your eyes start to water. If the color is wearing the person, it's almost always the WRONG color of them. This subtle distinction can make all the difference.

The Color Confusion

We've all been there – standing in front of our closet, trying to decide what to wear, only to end up feeling a bit "off" or less vibrant than we'd like. I need to stress though -- this is NOT about fashion! Our clothes and how to put ourselves together really is a hint to show off whether you have your sh** together or not. And if you do, how tailored is it? Are you manicured like the lawn or are there some respectable rough edges? It's about understanding the interplay between your natural coloring and the colors you choose to wear -- because wearing the wrong colors can make you appear tired, older, and less radiant.

The Color Test

Here's a quick experiment you can conduct to assess whether a particular color is working for you:

  1. Choose three photos of yourself wearing different outfits in various colors.

  2. Observe where your eyes are drawn first – to your face or to the color of the outfit.

  3. If the color grabs your attention first, it might be clashing with your natural coloring.

  4. If your eyes are naturally drawn to your face, congratulations – you've found a color that complements you!

Understanding Your Color Palette

Figuring out your color palette always feels like a puzzle, but once you find a puzzle that fits, you can see the full picture. Our colors are inspired by what's in nature...let's not forget that we're humans and we belong in nature too! Out of 12 distinct color palettes, only one or possibly two palettes will be right for you. Each color palette corresponds to a specific season – from the freshness of spring to the rich tones of winter. How we match you to your color palette is dependent on your natural hair color, the undertones of your skin (which remains constant regardless of sun exposure), and the natural hues of your eyes. This detective work guides us toward identifying your unique color identity and helps us determine whether you're a Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter tone.

The Wardrobe Evolution

Once we have identified your perfect color palette, next we dive into your style and wardrobe. And if you happen to be a man who thinks this isn't for you...you might need more help than you think. I say this because men typically have less choice than women, so you are forced into conventional styles that might not be what you actually like! When we figure out your style, your wardrobe will undergo a transformation. All of a sudden, you'll know exactly what you'll need to create the right style in the right colors. Shopping becomes strategic, and you'll find yourself instinctively avoiding hues that dampen your natural glow.

Mastering the Color Code

Understanding the language of color when it comes to what you wear...I swear, it's a game-changer! I remember getting a color analysis done back in 2017 and it suddenly made sense why I wasn't wearing half of my wardrobe. The funny thing is, at my consultation, I wore black trousers, a white t-shirt, and a mustard blazer shirt thrown over it. At the end of the consultation, my stylist told me to never wear that shirt again, and I had to leave the room with just my t-shirt (something I rarely do!) When you know your colors, it truly empowers you to make an informed decision about yourself. What we wear shouldn't be a reflection of our mood, nor should it be something that requires zero thought. As part of the color analysis process, not only will you discover your perfect palette but also learn to see how the wrongs colors can totally drag your face down! You'll move from a position of making random selections to conscious, intentional choices.
