OK, but why do I have to dress to impress?
This isn’t about dressing to impress. If you’re the kind of business owner who wears jeans, t-shirt and a shirt over the top, own it. But do it consistently. Stick with the same kind of style. This isn’t about fashion or style. How you dress is how you dress. You’re never going to hear me tell you to put on a professional suit because that goes against the grain of a personal brand UNLESS that’s exactly how you LOVE to dress. And I won’t ever tell you to dress according to your industry. Your personal brand dictates how you dress, but if you don’t even know what your personal brand is….well, there’s the problem!
For a lot of business owners, how you dress is really at the bottom of the list. Actually, it’s not even on the list! But as your Personal Brand expert, I’m here to tell you that how you present yourself is so, so, so, so important. It’s all about consistency. This is how you build up your brand and what your subconscious mind tells you is something that is hard to change. You have less than 7 seconds to figure out whether you like the look of someone or not… I’m talking about intangible assets like trust, credibility, comfort, sincerity … these important elements that are important for solopreneurs to showcase from the get go! Consistency in your presentation is EVERYTHING! And if you decided that you want to change how you dress every single day, own it…but stick with that rule. Be so different – that that becomes your THING!
